New TSI Fellow, Jay Hawkins

I’m pleased to announce Jay Hawkins as a new Senior Fellow in The Sierra Institute.  Jay was nominated by Senior Fellow, David Eberhardt.
With over 25 years of human resource management experience, Jay is currently the vice president of human resources for Chesapeake Energy.  Having over 5,000 employees and headquartered in Oklahoma City, Chesapeake Energy is an independent oil and gas exploration and production corporation and is currently the second largest producer of natural gas.   In his current role, Jay oversees and leads all human resource and employee service programs.   During the 2013-2014 Chesapeake Energy transformation process, Jay completely restructured the human resource function and programs to streamline and align with the new business strategy.   Chesapeake Energy placed 16th in the 2014 Workforce Top 100 Companies for Human Resources.  ( )
Having concentrated human resource experience in the oil and gas industry, Jay started his oil and gas career with Kerr-McGee Corporation after graduation with a Master of Human Relations degree from the University of Oklahoma.   In the 2006 merger between Kerr-McGee and Anadarko Petroleum, Jay transitioned to Houston, Texas as Global Director of Human Resources for Anadarko Petroleum in The Woodlands, Texas.   While serving in this capacity, Jay was responsible for restructuring the U.S. and international human resource programs as well as the Anadarko leadership development programs and practices.   During his tenure there, Anadarko Petroleum received best large corporation to work award in Houston for 7 consecutive years.
